
You visit one of the most famous Mayan Ruins of Cozumel Island called San Gervasio. After visiting the ruins, your guide will take you along the main road that circles the island, stopping at El Mirador on the east side of the Island for breath taking views.
San Gervasio is a small ruin site but is still very interesting and full of history. San Gervasio is a Mayan archeological site which served as a religious community. San Gervasio was dedicated to the Mayan goddess Ix Chel, deity of midwifery, fertility, medicine and weaving. Women from the mainland settlements made a pilgrimage to San Gervasio. Many statues of Ix Chel were found here and the ruins consists mainly of small temples and shrines. The ruins still lie in its natural setting and its history makes it a worthwhile visit.
